My guess is complainy teachers, or, economic concerns. Is it possible 1/4 of the school cannot afford nice costumes.[b]
The principal I spoke with at one FCPS ES told me that is was unfair for the families scraping by for food and rent to have to pay for a costume/have competition for costumes.
It was a normal day. It seemed kinder.

Anonymous wrote:Halloween today in my kid's FFX school was a waste of a school day. Lots of distracting costumes and a TWO HOUR party in the afternoon, which parents were encouraged to attend. They're trick-or-treating tonight, they didn't need a day of being amped up beforehand. They also have a field trip this week, early dismissal Friday, off Mon-Tues, and then the stream of holiday and snow closures in Nov-Feb... I do Halloween with my family but they don't need this at school, nor do the staff. Everything is such overkill!

Must I go on?
We do Halloween trick or treating, but I don't want my kids going to school in costume.
