One specific family member always brings $20 max gifts, without a receipt and sometimes they seem like regifts.
Now I know that I shouldn’t be presumptuous with other peoples money, bc they don’t have to, but it feels disrespectful, and it really annoys me, because I know for sure it’s not an affordability issue.
This is more of a vent, but is it common?
Doing this years ago. Now many years later with some perspective, i can really appreciate her frugal habits and the positives of it.

LOL. Gotta make sure nobody is struggling with alcoholism. If you know what type of alcohol someone likes and you know they have a safe relationship with it, then yes, it can be a nice gift as long as it is done in good fun without strings. I have a friend who always gives wine she enjoys. Win win. I open it up when she visits and we both enjoy it with some yummy food. We laugh about our college years. The real gift though is her and her personality. It wouldn't matter if she brought a gift that cost anything.

I save all beauty box items I get year round and send it to my sister at the beginning of Nov. What she doesn't use she gives to her friend.
WIN WIN. They both love the gift.
In two months we will be paying off her car. She doesn't know it yet so what a surprise that will be. One of her paychecks only cover car note and insurance. Once that car note goes away she will be in a better financial position. This feels so right. She will cry but happy tears are better than sad ones.
