Umm...if I had to choose, I would DEFINITELY choose for my daughter to grow up to be more like Amy Schumer than Ivanka. In fact, I would really be horrified if my daughter grew up to be a stepfordish-woman like Ivanka with her strange way of talking as if she wants to let everyone know she is not scary at all, and her curated image of perfection. So artificial and controlled.

But really, the role models I hold for my daughter are more along the lines of Marie Curie, Rosa Parks, Dorothy Day, Toni Morrison, and Tammy Duckworth. Women who have really contributed something of value to the world.

DP here. It's interesting you think this. I'm a woman. I used to (generally) vote for the Democratic candidate. Never, ever again. Liberals have made the Democratic party unrecognizable. And if you think conservatives have "disdain for women," clearly you haven't been reading the many liberal posts right here on DCUM which display an incredible disdain for women - if they're not liberal, of course.

So bring it on at the polls. Maybe you'll win. But maybe not. I know who I *won't* be voting for.

Anyways, they’re not that hot. I’ve seen some hot women at JMU and UVA that match Hollywood looks for sure.



I've seen a thousand women on the streets of DC who look better than Ivanka. And most of them probably haven't even had plastic surgery. I wonder how many of them are conservatives?

What the eff does being more diverse have to do with better skin and muscle tone?


Olive and dark skin is much more appealing than pale, pasty skin. Variety is the spice of life.

FFS this thread is what’s wrong with discourse these days. People commenting did not even read the study, including, perhaps, the OP.

It has nothing to do with going to the gym, and they also controlled for SES. The authors specifically outline that



1. attractive people are given more in life/go through life more easily, from the early years

2. as a result they essentially think they have been successful due to them working harder than the ugly person next to them

3. they then think everyone should be able to pull themselves up by the bootstraps (sound familiar?) the way “they did”

4. therefore they don’t see the value of government aid and entitlements/“handouts” etc

5. as a result they tend to identify as conservative (ideology) and Republican (partisanship)



It’s not a testament to conservatism.

You have to control for socioeconomic status.

Really, all this study demonstrates is that wealth/upper-middle-class people tend to be more attractive than poor/working class people, which we already know.
