Nope. Sully Highlands is where the younger kids play all day on weekends.

I understand this is only a rec tournament of lower level players, but CYA consistently loses them to other rec programs. So maybe (just maybe) CYA is doing all-star selections in a way that does not benefit the league but just stokes the egos of coaches who's kids can't play on a level playing field. Just saying...

No one is volunteering to coach your 7 year old and spend all that time practicing and running games and dealing with the league and parents in order to sneak their kid onto a completely meaningless all star team. If someone volunteers to also coach all stars, of course their kid is on the team automatically. Leagues are begging and begging for coaches.

Wait until your kid gets to U11 and above. There are insane coaches whose lives revolve around CYA rec soccer. Go to Sully field on any given Saturday for a rec game and you can see how nuts these guys get and yell at children and other teams. No one is talking about 7 year olds bub.

U11 doesn't even play at Sully field

Great Falls Reston has a really nice program too for those looking to leave CYA. We left CYA a while ago. All the parents at cya know who the BS that the coaches at pull.

We did SYA rec and CYA rec, both terrible. Ended up at Burke, much better.

A lot of CYA parents have left for Herndon. CYA is only good if your kid is friends with the coaches kid.

The 10 and 11 year olds don't play at Sully. At that age, they are part of the Suburban Friendship League and their games are all over the place.

This is the kind of stuff that CYA girls coaches pull. Check out this thread from last fall.

I'm not sure what that has to do with older kids not playing at Sully? Every time we've been there it's been younger kids (probably K-3rd grade).

What are the better rec programs that CYA loses kids to? We are not happy with their program.

Not SYA. SYA is terrible. The practice field our dc's team was put on was unsafe (full of holes, no lights, crowded with other teams).

I heard a cya coach used travel players in the Herndon all stars tournament last fall. I won’t mention names but it looks like cya is pretty messed up. All stars, valor tournament, dirty coaches… what the heck is going on with Cya?
