I'm always hesitant myself, but I love it when friends/family share renovation pictures!

I would love to see! I have a friend who has been renovating her house during the pandemic and it has been fun to watch!

I LOVE to see before and afters. Love love love it. It's not showy, it's inspiring. Do it!

7 figure renovation? Were you renovating a castle? Why not just buy a new house at that point?

This makes no sense. For a million dollar plus renovation you should have had design and other folks helping. What did you do, cheap out and hire they work for the day locals at HD?

Impressive is when you design and actually physically do the work yourself. We have installed our own doors, windows, redid our hardwood, redid our kitchen, redoing our basement, electrical, plumbing, etc.

Isn’t that what poor people do?

Keep it simple and private. Send pics to the people you know they care and help.

I don’t think it’s bragging. I actually think it’s helpful and provides inspiration.

FWIW, there’s a way to post the pics without making it about the renovation.

-Post of pic of the kids or dog in the space.
-“Celebrating Mark’s birthday!” with a wide shot of the cake and/or Mark in the new kitchen.
-Bathrooms are tricky. Maybe the cat is relaxing on the floor?

Wow, that does suck? How do you even get through your day with such tragedy in your life?

I like seeing people's home imrovement projects. I feel happy for them and it's nice to see what they've done - gives me ideas and also everyone likes to ogle.

I guess the reason to hold back is the same reason why I didn't post to FB when I finished paying off my student loans last year - because a lot of people are really struggling right now and you don't want to rub it in their faces. Only you can decide how to thread that needle.

We did post pics of our kitchen renovation because we were enjoying seeing the transformation so much. I hope the people who know is enjoyed it, too. If not, that's ok as well.

Actually that’s not exactly true. I literally had to help my contractor along with so many projects I want it done that he just cannot figure out on his own. I’m talking about ceiling designs cutting out new windows, closing up windows and so many many other designs I came up with. It wasn’t just simply tiling the floors. I literally could help build a home after all the things I had to research on my own.

I even had to figure out how to install the 12 foot high marble fireplace mantle I had made. I told him he’s just gonna have to cut a hole in the ceiling and use pulleys tied to the roof beams to lift it up into position.

Imo it’s marble fireplace lady!! I remember the original thread. I wish I could find it.

No, I think it’s an elaborate make believe thing. Like OP has been posting repeatedly about this pretend house she is making
fabulous by ordering 12ft mantels from China and helping the contractor not cover windows.

OP, did you renovate that $4.2M house in 22207?
