what a strange addition to that Fairfax City house!

A friend of mine lives in Canterbury Woods. My biggest complaint with that neighborhood is how far it is from amenities. You are pretty car dependent, at least AFAICT. I realize I am probably pretty weird among suburban dwellers to complain about that, but I have gotten so used to being able to walk to the grocery store and schools and even some restaurants in my past 2 neighborhoods, that I am adamant about being walking distance to these things.

this is what it sounds like is happening here. Some sort of slope. I don't know, though - That is a buttload of space for the money closer in within woodson district to actually have a decent amount walkable.

This is a REALLY cute house at that price point.


We looked at a very similar house in this same neighborhood a year or so ago. FWIW, I'm actually thinking it would be a service to the poster who seems so annoyed by me (the dreaded "Greenbriar poster") personally. Hide me and all your troubles go away.

I don't think I'd have to hide half the board. Probably just a couple...

I'm fine with registering myself. And this explanation of why not makes sense. And I think, other than not having taken the time to register myself as a user, I do actually lead by example. I am the same way here as I am on city-data and any other board I've been a part of.

The idea of requiring registration comes up every couple of months. The bottom line is that it's not something we will do at this point. It is far more likely that I will be driven to implement registration by the out of control spambots than I will be by nasty posts, but even that is not on the horizon at the moment.


And finally, for those in favor of registration, the best way to deal with this issue is to lead by example. I'd bet that 99 percent of the threads that support requiring registration are started by anonymous posters. I'm sorry, but it's really hard to take you guys seriously. Walk the walk a while and see if it's really such a good thing.
