Unfortunately not. They are getting one from Magruder who is awful. Lots of complaints from staff about her.

Who? Why?
Seyoum is incompetent as a AP. No follow through, doesn’t meet deadlines, and gives empty promises in person, but rarely responds to emails. Self promoting and rarely shows up for work. Really, she’s out all the time and when she is there, she comes in late. She will smile on your face while throwing you under the bus. Staff were constantly going the EFR about her not meeting MCEA contractual obligations. Oh and as for experience, I think she’s only been an AP for two years. She won’t survive at Wootton.

Totally agree. Sorry, Wootton.

Just got some dirt that Seyoum was seen in the school building at Magruder late in the evening packing up her office and a teacher asked what was going on and she just laughed. It was obvious she was leaving, but no one was saying anything. It makes you wonder if she put in for a transfer and Ascienzo (Magruder principal) didn't know anything until the last minute because that position is technically still empty at Magruder (new AP starts on 9/15).

Are you saying that with everything going on at Wootton that Central Office is putting week admin into the vacant positions? Wouldn't that just make the Wootton problem worse?

Did Central Office ever reach out to the teachers and counselors who left to try to figure out why?

Did alleged racist incidents or handling of the alleged incidents contribut to them leaving?: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1244355.page.

Or did they leave this year knowing Crown and Woodward boundary changes which will be announced next year will change Wootton student demographics?

Boundary changes? What? No. No one even brings that up. Only families care about that.

Wooton is too racially charged right now (for real and imagined slights and incidents). Along with a building badly in need of a renovation. New principal is good in some ways but very bad in others (bordering on unethical behavior in trying to improve the graduation rate). Stressful place at the moment to teach or be a counselor.

The assistant principal who left last year was not an acting assistant principal. She was also not involved in the racist word on a printer situation.

True. But Wootton has it in addition to all the upheaval of the last few years.

Sure, but that same uncertainty is present in nearly every school right now.

The acting assistant principal involved left abruptly midyear, just like Doug Nelson. That was unusual as well. A retired principal came in to fill her slot for the rest of the year.

Racist word printer incident? Did students approach their counselors when that happened and did those same counselors and/or administrators do nothing?

A teacher found the printer with the racist word, not a student. That teacher approached an acting assistant principal who was not asked to become an official administrator for the following year.
