It has a great college town...but the admitted students tour was enough for my DD to cross it off the list. The tour guides basically said this is a place where an average HS student can excel. Of course, Newark is a great college town...but for us, it was a Meh experience.
The students who “excel” at Delaware typically don’t excel anywhere else later. But a few years where all the 5s think they are 8s and 9s may not be the worst thing in the world.
Well one of its graduates might be your president soon.

When DCUM posters all have to be approved by Mike Pence, Hillsdale will be universally loved on DCUM. Until then, there is plenty of disdain for the place.

If it's a podunk school, as you concede, do we really need to focus on whether the growth of its endowment is due to the investment acumen of its portfolio managers or whether it's just a favorite of the same right-wing groups that exploit Citizens United to flood the airways during state elections. It's still a podunk school that mostly attracts ultra-conservatives.

Every other school gets trashed
UNC gets lots of negative comments. Too parochial, too southern, cheating athletic department, etc.
Stanford seems to be well respected.
U of Washington isn't discussed much but doesn't seem to generate negative reactions.
UNC used to get a ton of negative comments that all seemed to be from the same poster; all that said "UNCcheat" about an athletic department scandal that happened very long ago (and in which many other big athletic schools like UVA, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke were also implied). People still love it. It still gets a ton of positive comments here.
People seem to also love: UT- Austin, Berkley, Pomona, Wisconsin, Elon, Pitt, Ga Tech, Vanderbilt, and CNU.
Everyone hates Duke, sorry.
BUT Duke still gets
This is an anonymous forum. Any of the negative comments about a school could be coming from one person with a grudge.
Actually with regard to the UNC hater, I remember that particular poster and Jeff started deleting the posts, because yes, they were from the same poster. Every single UNC thread, every one, the poster would have a UNCheat comment with random quotes.

Emory is for kids who couldn't get into Duke, like Vanderbilt, except in Atlanta rather than Nashville.
People familiar with Colorado and Washington are too busy getting high during the shutdown to post on DCUM.

Yes, there is so much love and respect on DCUM for SEC schools in Alabama with football stadiums that sit in the center of campus. The heads at Auburn are about to explode with all the DCUM love.
As for SMU (or TCU), few on DCUM would admit that their kids go there. It's everything DCUM hates - southern, private, and conservative. Better than Liberty and Oral Roberts, but too close for comfort.
