They had 3 guest players, one of which was always in goal bec the old goalie moved. They worked their butts off and trained for months and won this because they are great. They won every game in the fall on age. They played up in spring and lost to Alexandria and Arlington. SYC was the only team on age that beat them. I figured SYC might struggle at SuperCopa without the ability to strategically foul and play dirty and that proved true. Kids on both teams are kids and some of the adults on this thread are ridiculous. I agree with some of the other comments on here about the SYC coach.

Funny how SYC calls the ugly game they play "Samba" lol ...

Salty BSC parents 🤣🤣🤣, just cause they can't match the Samba Boys talent without GUEST players.

BSC with 0 guest players and 1 starting 2013 vs SYC with 0 guest players and 2 2013 starters = 10-1 SYC 😜

Not a BSC parent, but you got an American guy of Saudi descent coaching your Samba boys. Kick coach a ball and check out his first touch, I’m sure it’s smooth as silk, lol.

Such an ass. That coach you're making fun of had his own local soccer journey which likely went far longer than yours did, and likely farther than many of the coaches in the area. He's had a successful career off the field, which has allowed him to personally fund much of the training and opportunities for many of the kids playing on that team. Perhaps there are things about his style you disagree with or don't like, but attacking his background and ethnicity is uncalled for and inappropriate.

Lol if that’s what you call attacking, I bet you are that coach

I’m not a coach nor do I have a kid on the team, although my kids do play at SYC.. I do know that when you mix a statement of his skill (first touch) with unnecessary elements of his ethnicity unrelated to that skill, you’re walking an incredibly thin line between dense and racist. Choose more carefully which side you want to fall on. Plenty of reasons in this thread to dislike this team/coach based on strategy or style, but none of what you said is relevant to that nor appropriate.

SAC and a few other clubs and a player who has guest played for a lot of clubs around, here including SYC. Those are really top notch players. I suspect many will play for armour next year.

So why were they registered as a Virginia team if they were SAC? Any ideas?

I didn’t say they were all SAC. Just some of the top notch players on that team. At least four of their starters are SAC. Their striker is nobody I have seen in VA or DC or from Maryland. He looks like he is about 6’ tall with a ton of skill.

So, how exactly would a guest player work exactly at U9? There are not full scouting reports or player profiles at 8 years old. How did Bethesda decide to pick up what players? Were they going along during the season and played against a really talented kid and decided, "hey, he'd be a great addition for the Super Copa?"

Also, Bethesda must have had a fair number of guest players. They struggled in CCL in the Spring against some teams not named SYC. My DS team played both and SYC was light years better. Heck, Alexandria was better than them. And now they had a good enough team to win Super Copa??? Hmmm...

Bsc U9 top team played up a year most of the spring season. If your son is a 2011, then he was playing a 2012 team.

If he is a 2012, it probably was not the top team but the B or C team he played.

A lot of the kids and parents on top teams know each other, even at this age. And coaches see and note other players (yes, even at this age). A lot of them end up congregating at clubs like pipeline, Bethesda and SAC by U11s or U12s. And yes, of course Bethesda does this.
