Dogs are great, there's love and companionship. Will give something for OP to do, get out of his own head, and it can be a way to meet new people. However, he should only do it if he can commit for at least 10-15 years.

Sorry, OP. I have no advice for you other than it takes time. How much time? Depends on how much you loved the person I guess. Try to keep busy, work on things you enjoy, hobbies and set a time limit for yourself each day to freely think about it and then stay busy again.

Just remember that it’s not possible to sustain this level of grief forever, OP. The pain will become less in time. I think your idea to work on yourself is a great plan. An in-shape guy who speaks 3 languages sounds like an amazing catch to me!
