Europe is now enjoying their dessert because they ate their vegetables. We have not done what is necessary to be in a place where pro leagues can play properly.

Europe will go back through this in the winter. Don’t kid yourself. This isn’t the brownie/cookie test. You think the virus cannot return in full to Europe when they lift lockdown? Nobody I know in Europe thinks they are eating dessert right now.

In fact, there is an emerging argument that we can get to herd immunity faster proceeding as we do now (though some states and individuals must certainly do better). New articles suggesting that you can hit herd immunity at much lower percentages with this virus so long as some distancing and restrictions remain in place (no bars, sporting events, concerts). Yes, I know all the nonsense about the absence of definitive proof about immunity after infection but I have not seen any convincing evidence to the contrary, and if there were, it’s hard to understand the vaccine efforts.

Per a report out a few days ago, only about 1% of the US population is infected. So it will take a heck of a long time to get herd immunity.

LOL if HS sports do not go travel will be shut down. Travels sports have their own system of rules and regulations restricting players and limiting “freedom”. Also it is only for the people who can pay.

There is a post in another thread about last weekend's EDP tournament in NJ and the safety measures they took. I think that there should be local tournaments only.

No. It's not going to happen.

This is incompatible. There needs to be an acceptance that if you want to play soccer, there are risks involved and that’s inescapable. Players grab each other, they spit, they slide and land on the ground, they get cuts, they head the ball, they shoot snot rockets and they might hug when a goal is scored without even thinking about it. You can do things to try and limit the risk up to the point where the players enter the field to play a match, but let’s be realistic about what soccer entails. Some counties are still not allowing players to pass the ball to each other in official practices. Surely there must be a middle ground, if people can go to the beach and bars/restaurants etc.

Not a fan of tournament anyway. I see it as a good thing if there is no tournament.

The kids need showcases to happen.

My second grader doesn’t need a showcase. DP And neither does my third. They shouldn’t start until middle school.

Also, I don’t think they will happen.

My two high school children do.

There was an EDP tournament in NJ over the weekend , which included at least two MD teams. If numbers stay static, or hopefully decline, I think we will see touraments in the fall (maybe not in all counties though). If numbers go back up then I doubt it.

Games with players six feet apart? Sounds like fun!

It’s looking more and more less lie for the fall.
