SIl did this for many years. She was a single mom who CHOSE to stay home and be a welfare queen. :0 After multiple askings for a few hundred dollars for new tires, swim class for her daughter, new school clothes, window air conditioner etc... my DH just told her that we had a financial set back and were scraping by just to pay our bills.... but he would get a part-time job in the evening which took his time away from HIS finally and would send her his paycheck.
She would ask how the job search was going and he would say... his still looking - no job yet. Finally she stopped asking.

It's only a hundred bucks. If OP can live in the US, she can definitely afford it. The question is, does the mother deserve the help? I say no because their relationship just appears one-sided. Unless the mom can leave a 1-million-dollar house like in the other thread, why even bother with a destitute and manipulative senior?

The problem is that one cannot not send money and expect the parent to respect that.
