I think they named it the Wet Brush to let you know that it can be used on wet hair, but I never do. I only use it on my DD's dry hair after the detangling spray. I think it works better on tangled kinky hair because the bristles are thinner/weaker - they don't pull or yank on the hair as much as other hard bristled brushes. All I know is my DD doesn't cry anymore when I brush her hair! Oh and another thing that works for us - I start brushing DD's hair bottom first, then middle, then top. This is so much easier than going top down.

+1 I really like this line. The products are moisturizing and they do a good job taming frizz.

DD is half white, half south asian.

we got Beautiful Curls leave-in conditioner from Whole Foods and use it on both of my kids' curly hair.

I don't understand the concept of using a hairbrush on curly hair. I have curly hair, too, and would never use a brush on it unless I straightened it first. Can someone explain this concept of using a hairbrush on curly hair?


I would only use it when wet and thick with conditioner. Any other way and it's Frizz City.

I make my own for my daughter -

1/4 c. conditioner (I use fructis smoothing conditioner)
1 c. water
1 - 2 tablespoons of a hair oil like moroccan oil

Put it all in spray bottle and shake very well. (

Spray on the ends and work it through with your fingers first and then use a wide tooth comb.

No shampoo. No hairbrushes, just a wide tooth comb. Get hair soaked in water every day and put leave-in conditioner in. Read the book 'Curly Girl.' The big thing is to avoid shampoo. It destroys curly hair.

Also learn how to manage comments. My DD has corkscrew curls that she gets compliments or comments on literally every time we go out. You will need to teach your child to handle the attention.

I use a little of the olive oil hair lotion product to help keep curly hair moisturized, smooth, reduce tangles, etc... I just don't use a lot of use it or use it everyday, just when I think we need it.
