I don't think it is cute at all but I also would have said nothing because as pp said, there is not "modesty" police in this country - THANK GOD! Seeing this kind of thing is a small price to pay to not have people deciding what is appropriate or not in our behalves.

It's weird and sad but you saying something wouldn't have been very effective in changing things so best to just think about how you'll handle your own children's burgeoning sexuality.

How would you feel if another parent did say something to your kid in this situation. I didn't. And wouldn't unless it got worse or more obvious. But if it were one of my boys, out of my sight line, I would have been perfectly okay with another mom perhaps embarrassing him into thinking twice about how his behavior looks to others. I imagine I would feel the same way if I had daughters.

Maybe I am the exception though...

you should have said something. Kids that age will usually respond positively to something like "Knock it off, guys!" or "We'll have none of that here." -that kind of thing. Don't be aggressive or domineering - say it and keep moving. You'd be surprised how often it works.

That could be it.

A lot of the older kids parents hang out over in the shade and not near the edge of the pool.

Not going to say, but it is a nice, upper middle class neighborhood with nice families and good kids. It just really stood out from the normal and typical behavior of the kids in our neighborhood.

I don't know of any parents in my extended circle that would be okay with this type of behavior, even if the kids were middle school.

I posted here because I was curious if there were actually parents who are okay with young kids acting like this.

Clearly their parents were, and clearly you are too.

They were about three feet from me and my kids. We moved away.

My first thought when they walked by was "Oh, they look young to be holding hands like that"

Later, in the pool when he appeared to rub her chest, my thought was "Okay, THIS is why they have graphic sex ed in 5th and 6th grade in Fairfax county. Hope these kids parents didn't opt them out."
