White, black, silver and gray are the most common automotive industry paint color families.

New car buyers skew old and the average buyer age continues to increase (average is a Gen-Xer). I think the fun colors died out when the Boomers got to be 40+.

Kidding, but not really. There does seem to be an odd pattern of white SUVs driving horribly - a few friends and I have all noticed this (none of us drive a black nor white SUV--I don't drive an SUV, period).

I thought this was about skin color.

Very early in the thread, someone stated that white is the "hot mom" car color. This was discussed and debated in the thread. There was, I believe, a subsequent thread that was just about whether "hot moms" drove white SUVs, but I can't find that one, maybe someone else can. But for a few months, there was a lot of conversation on DCUM about why certain types of moms drove white SUVs. The stereotype of the white SUV mom being the SAHM in Lululemon carrying a giant coffee (I'm guessing the 2024 version would be carrying a Stanley cup) dropping her kids off at school or activities certainly *feels* true. But this stereotype has been around for a while, including on DCUM. I think probably it's just that a lot of UMC families drive SUVs and white SUVs are more common than other colors. Thus they are associated with other markers of being UMC, like having a SAHM, wearing athleisure all the time, having kids in lots of activities, etc.

Personally, I think everyone who drives any color SUV is a "baddie" because SUVs are terrible and their proliferation has made our world worse, more polluted, more crowded, and less safe. But no one cares about this and I'm sure someone is designing a "Baddie in the Black SUV" t shirt to sell on Etsy as we speak.

I get white or black because that’s all they have. That or silver and I don’t like silver. I do like that milky grey color but they didn’t have when I bought a car last year. So my last 3 SUVs have been white or black.

Baddie moms are the fun moms. If you catch my drift...

I would paint my scuffed up green SUV if it wasn't so expensive to do so. Sparkly amethyst sounds great.

They exist. I actually have never seen a white SUV in our school car line.
