I am a white woman and not everything is for you OP. It’s ok for there to be some things that you like and covet but cannot have.
It’s like cultural appropriation and Halloween costumes. If you have to ask if it’s wrong, it’s probably wrong. If you ask “if I do X Y Z, then is it ok?” It is wrong. If you have to justify or explain your choice, if you have to modify the costume to make it ok - that is your clue it is wrong.
If you feel you will have to explain your choice or if you will constantly wonder if POC are giving you stink eye when you carry the bag - it’s not worth it. Just find another tote bag.
OMG. Get a grip. Your absurdity just made me decide to buy one of these bags - which I previously had never heard of. I can't believe there are actually lunatics who think like this.
To PP’s credit….I really believe she was trying to be an ally and just didn’t or doesn’t understand that it’s perfectly okay. The designer wants EVERYONE to buy his things. Rich, poor, female, male, old, young….black…white and etc etc ….somehow PP was made to believe from the thread that it was an issue. It isn’t. I had never heard of the bag until today. I’m black. I googled to see what would cause anyone to think it was only for POC and couldn’t find anything but interviews from the designer and his site saying that it was for Everyone. I have to give Pp the benefit of the doubt because the thread made it sound like it was an issue. It clearly isn’t.
