Apologies if this was posted before YT by a former clasmate
https://youtu.be/WpsNhr9TteY?si=XWNrWWR3cCq6Km_p

Also, is it known where the victim worked? It's weird no mention of the place. Usually it's "promising consultant" or "sales exec for ..." in stories about homicides.

Until this thread popped up I am not sure I knew about the murder.
I get my hair done catty-cornered across the street. Walk by there often.

Given all the conspiracy talk here, perhaps the killer was attempting to avoid gait analysis.

There’s a whole separate set of bloody clothes, shoes, and supplies in that backpack. I also noticed that the person has taped over the logo on their backpack.

I’m thinking this is a crime involving a 3 letter agency. Feels too professional. I still think it’s a woman.

You're correct about the clothes there are youtube videos showing stills of the soles of his shoes. He changed his shoes. I think this was a male and not a female though based on no chest and the gait.

It's a shame that its now six years later this case is still unsolved. The police waited a entire year to release camera footage and removed all the time stamps.

Was thinking back on this case today. Has there been any traction?

However, the close up of the POI's chest makes me think it is male. Look at how broad and flat the chest is, and look at how seriously developed the deltoid muscles are. Virtually no women have deltoid muscles that are that large, unless they are on steroids and/or are a compete at the national level in Crossfit or something.

I think there is a good chance the POI might be Hispanic (but who knows), possibly a soccer player. If you run a google image search for South American male soccer players, you will see that many of them are built exactly like this person. They're often very short, muscular, many have thick thighs, an so on...

I also think the gait might be fake, or it might just be an injury from the crime. The gait is not consistent, and at one point in the video you see the POI further exaggerate his/her gait. It makes me wonder if it was an act.

You make a good point.

The gait could be faked - pebble in shoes, wrong size shoes etc.

And the police hardly share anything but a grainy video a year later?

I mean...its not that unusual. Didn't this happen to another single man -- also lived alone -- in Arlington the year before? Can't remember his name but he lived in a high-rise.

Are you thinking of the man that had a son? I think that one made more since bc there was a woman or two women involved.

I thought he was too young (for this area) to have a kid? He was in his late 20s.

No. There was another man killed in ballston but IIRC the killer was someone connected to the man’s ex wife and the motive was a custody dispute over their child.

It seems extremely unlikely that someone would enter a random apartment building, select a unit at random, and stab someone to death with no particular motive - not to mention they'd have no way of knowing if someone were home at all, if multiple people were there, etc. Especially in a relatively safe neighborhood.

I always assumed it was someone known to the victim and the killing was over some type of dispute, and that the police know who it is but don't have evidence to charge them. But now they are releasing surveillance of a barely-identifiable person, so it seems they don't know who it is?

Something just seems so off here. Either a random killer is at loose who was able to overpower a 24 year old, healthy looking young man (in which case - why isn't there more concern??) or the police know a lot more than they're saying...yet don't know who the actual culprit was. Very strange.

Nothing about this seems random to me.

Drugs, jilted lover, or he worked for an ABC agency and got smoked (his job title is pretty unremarkable/easily overlooked)

What does this mean?

Means he could've secretly been working for FBI, CIA etc.

Yep. NSA, DIA, there are so many.

Wouldn't their agency "shut down" the investigation?

A year later and no leads aside from a video with a suspect entirely clothed over? Its shut down.

Also reminiscence of the Capitol Hill Senate Staffer whose murderer was never charged even though they knew who he was and he dealt the killing blow. Killer was described as white and wearing a cream-colored jacket/sweater.

I guess what I'm saying is, if its an agency related murder, why did Arl police release the footage?
