Yes, I can see this being done well or (more likely) horribly. I am even more concerned about this than tracking.

They briefly discussed detracking in one meeting and have a link on their website but that was it. People speculated and jumped to extreme conclusions before waiting to get more information.


VMPI's Tina Mazzacane confirmed they would eliminate tracking when someone asked about it in e-mail.
This was exactly the plan until there was a backlash. A backlash that you tried to prevent at the time by saying people were speculating, while previously saying this was what other states are doing and we needed to get with the program.

That's really too bad, since there are multiple figures on the record (ex: Megan McLaughlin) indicating that from what she knew, parents had every right to be concerned and should be watching what VDOE is doing with the math standards.



Parents should certainly be engaged, but they also shouldn't be spreading misinformation.

Am I going crazy or wasn't there a thread in this forum re: the proposed changes to advanced math track? Came here because I remember some links to presentations in that thread which were helpful, but can't find it. Was it deleted for some reason (which would be a shame, had some good info/discussion), or is it in another forum instead? I tried a couple other forums but didn't find what I was looking for. Any link to the original thread or links to the evolving materials/presentations they have shared would be greatly appreciated!
