My office has a treadmill desk and I LOVE it - huge productivity booster. I use it when the post lunch slump hits.

I had a guy who worked for me who had back issues. He asked to stand in meetings instead of sitting. I said "of course". It was no big deal.

Standing desk might require a Dr note unless you buy your own.

I don't think moving every 30 minutes would be a special accommodation. What's stopping you from standing up and walking to the bathroom or printer? It helps if you drink a lot of water. More bathroom breaks needed!

my husband is a fed and got a standing deck with a doctors note (due to significant back issues). It took many months but he did get it.

I love my standing desk, many of the coworkers have them. Everyone, who got them just asked a doctor for a note. Nobody liked the treadmill desk, when we got one to try.

how can someone like to stand? I don't get it. It's so unnatural.

Trying to get a sense of workplace culture re: standing desks, treadmill desks or just getting up and moving around every 30 minutes.

It was this article that got me thinking about it:

http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/11/health/sitting-increases-risk-of-death-study/index.html

I do have a friend at State Department who has a coworker with a treadmill or pedal-type standing desk. Im not sure she received it for a special health concern, as she appears to be quite fit and healthy, but in any case it could be some time before workplaces yield to the findings in some meaningful way. Unhelpfully, the data are not clear on best practices to remedy the problem, and currently getting up every 30 minutes is the only recommendation.

I work from home and have complete freedom in that regard, but Im curious if anyone does this break every 30 minutes thing and is it something you feel comfortable doing, is it still very rare that anyone does it, etc.
