Please do not feel guilty. Use it to get back on your feet.
If kids are in school makes sure you fill out the form for free or reduced price lunch and assistance with aftercare fees.

Lots of families are struggling there is no shame in needing help.

OP here. I have a bachelor's degree, which is part of my hesitation to use assistance! I lived overseas for my husband's career and my career stalled (obviously). But thanks for the helpful input.

I make 15 a hour and I am on it. I know that it will be temporary as I get through college while working to support my children.

I'm the OP of other threads about husband not paying child support. I've been encouraged by social services to apply for public assistance, but I feel weird about it. In a few weeks I'll have a job that pays $10 an hour plus tips (I'll be managing a bar and bartending). I have two small children and feel like I am not truly deserving of public assistance. Anyone BTDT?
