Most kids in the program were referred on the basis of having a qualifying NNAT and/or FxAT. A few more kids were parent referred without a qualifying score. Kids from private schools are, of course, all parent referred. I have not personally seen a breakdown by qualifying score vs. parent referred vs. appealed.

There is no criteria of X% from each base school.

Approximately 18% of third graders are in AAP. probably 30-35% tried to get in.

Some schools have more people accepted than others. I have no idea how many applied. From what I have heard about 66% of in-pool get accepted and about 50% of referrals are accepted.

thanks PP. by half I just mean if so many do get in, say 20%. that means what 30% tried to get in or were referred via scores? I just seems like I know the kids in from the meeting and people are rattling off how so and so is appealing etc. just seems like so many people must have applied at first if that many are even appealing.

I do not believe it matters what base school the kids are from. The reason I say this is b/c at our center, there are 13 base schools feeding into it. The school with the highest number of kids going to the center has about 20 kids going. The next highest school has maybe 12, then 10, then some with only 2-3 kids going (this is not for this year, it's historical data in a chart recently posted here). So, there seems to be a lot of variability in the number of kids going to the center from each feeder school. That would lead me to believe that there is no special accomodation made for kids coming from certain schools even though those schools have very low numbers going to the center (and there is no local level 4 substitute).

I just want to know at a typical school how many kids are going and how many more are added via appeal. in general.

some people have suggested "everyone" gets in and that the program is getting so big, but then it doesn't seem like that many are in.

I am just curious. say a school has 125 kids. that means about 20 kids make it in first round to AAP? then maybe 5 more appeal in? then maybe 5 get in from private schools?
is that about right? so in a particular grade in my example about 30/125 will go or is it less than that?

does that mean half the kids in 2nd grade sent in an application?

I have one in AAP and just want to understand because so many people seem to be in a craze at our school that everyone gets in and there are so many appeals etc.
