Something about Halloween etiquette makes some people... witchy

No, but I think the way some of the posters got bent out of shape about it was INSANE. Straight out of the gate someone was calling the OP "selfish bitch." It just seemed like a larger than usual dose of crazy.

Well, yeah. That person seemed a little crazy...

There were obviously a couple of people on that thread with "interesting" viewpoints regarding not being at home during trick-or-treating time, who were pretty rude. I'm someone who posted on that thread saying that having one parent stay at home and one parent out with the kids is perfectly reasonable...surely that's not considered objectionable in tone?

Initially, there was one poster who was rudely opposed to the OP. Then a second poster joined in with similar posts. Both of them posted repeatedly. Then they stopped but the tone of the thread had already been set.

Sorry - this one. Was posting from my phone before.

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/339734.page

This went off the rails on page one and did not improve much from there! It's like post after post of fury over people trick or treating with their kids instead of staying home to hand out candy, punctuated by people saying "is this trolling? this has to be trolling."

I was almost afraid to ask if it's a troll post / sock puppet situation because if the answer is no, that's the scariest part of this halloween!

I'm sorry, but I don't know which thread to which you're referring. Can you provide a link?

Please restore my faith in humanity by confirming there is only one or two sock puppets going off the rails on the trick or treat policy thread in general parenting!? If people truly have this much fury over the matter I may consider Alaska!
