Is the babys mother married?
I am not sure, but I heard that in some places you cannot claim paternity rights if the woman is married. Something about the sanctity of marriage

or maybe they wanted to outlaw having babies with the neighbors wife

OP, I know a father who spent $175,000 on a custody case. in DC. And lost. (The mother had to spend at least that much.)

Do you know what you are doing?

I saw a TV movie like this a couple of weeks ago. The single mom won full custody. I'm not sure a judge would agree that a cheating married guy and his (probably pissed) wife would be better parents than a single mom unless drugs were involved.

this is ridiculous. you don't even know if it's your baby but you think it would be better off with you? Did it ever cross your mind that the baby might have a relationship with the mom? You can file paternity determination in family court, I believe, but I'm not sure in which jurisdiction (VA).

I think you're withholding some information here. Does the mother not WANT to acknowledge your paternity? Is there another man involved such as a husband she cheated on or married after her relationship with you?

What would you DO with the information if you ARE the father? Seek joint custody?
