We lived in Deal boundary two years ago and we have been attending Murch ever since kindergarten, however we moved out of boundary, therefore lost the feeder right to Deal. I was very sad to find out and so was my daughter since all her friends continue going to Deal.

We are in boundary for Wells now and I just wasn’t positive that would be school that would be a good fit for us. Someone on here mentioned Truth and I did post lottery and just got offer for 6th grade. I did some research and even though I know I can’t compare it to Dear or Latin ( we are in the hundreds in lottery) it seems like a decent school and might be actually a good fit for someone who isn’t necessarily thriving in math and so fast pace school would probably end up being stressfull. I’m glad to hear you guys like the school and community - thank you!

Hmm, are you sure you lost your right to Deal? That would be a policy change as of this year if so.

It has long been the policy that moving oob allows you to stay through the terminal grade of a school but doesn't give you feeder rights...it just hasn't always been enforced. I don't know if op could have entered the lottery for a oob spot at murch, or if she would have gotten one, but if she had, her child would have had feeder rights.

Yes, got en email from DCPS, spoke to Murch principle, called Deal.. it’s very confusing though because on Deal website it says that kids from Murch have feeder pattern and kids who live in Boundary, however you still have to live in boundary, so it doesn’t really make sense. I called Deal today because I really don’t want to miss the opportunity if there was some by enrolling her in Truth. The lady said this has been a policy for 8 years but they really just starting reinforcing it last year.

Which grade? You'll probably get more/better info about MS than about HS given that this is the first year the HS has a 12th grade and the HS's first year in the new school building. Just more kids have cycled through the MS so far.

My kid is in their second year there and we've had a good experience overall. They've learned a lot, love their teachers, and have had a lot more extra curricular opportunities than I would've expected given the size of the school. Is it top tier academics? Probably not. But kid was in the multi-hundreds on the waitlist for Latin and Brookland Middle wasn't really an option. And honestly, given how awful middle school can be in general, I can't really complain that they have loved MS and are learning.

Uh, are you sure you are talking about Truth? Truth actually has many positive attributes, and I know several families who are very happy there, but the location is not nice and the school does not at all look beautiful!

The location is 1800 Perry- I think it’s nice. I guess my friend and I have low standards. Where do your kids go to school?

But it's only the Annex. Perry St Prep gets the big nice building and facilities. Annex is squashed in there. It does make for a cozy vibe...stay away from the basement though...

Why would a kid go to the basement?

I think it's very well-run, but a kid would need self-motivation.
