Obvious troll is obvious.
The problem with AI isn't that it replaces menial work. That would be fine.

The problem is that the tech bros skipped right over that - alleviating no actual boring grind work thus far - and tried to make it replace knowledge work and creative work. Not only are those the good, enjoyable, intrinsically valuable and human tasks, but AI sucks at those tasks. So we're pretty tired of getting laid off or lowballed because AI is supposedly going to do them. Literally no one wants that product.

There are a million problems AI could actually solve, if anyone were interested.

AI is the only thing helping me get the mountain of work done now that they've RIFed almost everyone in our agency and extended the hiring freeze. So yeah no.

We probably can’t stop greedy big-business from replacing the people with AI, but we sure can control government (once we are back in control).

So, why not just ban AI from the government entirely?

We can go a step further and try to restrict , as much as we can, the use of computer-technology in government?

Why not require paper backups (typed paper) for every offial document of any type? You could still have the e-file type systems, but just require that someone type it up on paper, like we used to?

It could save hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs.

What kind of weirdo troll is this? People in government want to do a good job using the best tools available, just like people not in government. No one wants to be a typist for a living.

An unsuccessful one.

A typist is a job. For a person. Or at least it used to be when America was supposedly great.

AI evangelists will just tell you to use a better prompt. Have you tried starting the prompt with “you are a very good lawyer”?

I'll admit (anonymously) that I have tried to use AI for my work and it unfortunately could not do it for me.

My job has become increasingly automated in recent years, to the point that my job is increasingly easier, for the same amount of pay. Combined with the automation, probably 90% of it could be done by AI. At this point I'm just riding it out until I'm obsolete.

I’m also a millennial fed and I love using AI- it’s relieved me of some of my most tedious duties and lets me focus on more important and enjoy my day.

The administration is really f-ing this up at our agency. We don’t have the best tools and there aren’t trainings to teach people how to use AI in a smart way. I’m teaching myself and having a lot of fun.

So we delay the advancement of human civilization so a fed can keep their job? Human history is paved with technological advancements that change everything (the wheel, writing, electricity, internet, etc).

Great points, OP! I'm also thinking we should go back to paper ballots!
