Why only for kids?

Have you been? This was not our experience at all. It was not a "zoo" by any means. Busy, of course, its cherry blossom season! We got there early, packed a picnic lunch, etc. Had a great time.

I like the kite festival, but agree it can get nuts. If you choose to go, understand that you’re going for the vibes and not to fly a kite. Take a blanket and snacks and find a place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere - preferably near a tree for shade and protection from rogue kites.

LOL, a zoo where sticks are flying at your face from the sky. It's always too crazy. I'd go very very early and leave early.

I would go first thing like be there before it starts. We could only go in the afternoon last year and it was very crowded, few free kites were left. Going early if you can would be my advice for any big events in DC or elsewhere.

Well I suggest you look at the schedule of events and see what appeals to you then. Many families go early.

Taking metro so not too worried about traffic parking.

Morning for parking/crowds.

Is it better to go in the morning or afternoon?
