I have always thought of Longwood as a four year community college.

I'm an alum, donor and I know the LU President and most of the cabinet, and this is the first time I've ever heard anyone say this. You, however, are clearly doing it be derogatory versus offering an honest and informed assessment. There are kids with LD issues all over public/private schools but when people say shit like this, it's because they want to insult the school and its students.

+1. Kids can be smart and successful in life… and have LDs. I have a 2e kid. Choosing the right fit is especially important. And was a big consideration. Got into WM and part of the reason the didn’t go was WM isn’t great on LD supports. (Went to a SLAC and did very well, but the worked with him).

Knowing a state school can work well with LDs it’s important fr parents of these students who can’t manage LAC tuition.

I know one kid going, one where it was their second choice. I heard great things from their parents on the visits. They were very impressed with the engagement there. These kids are average students, so not UVA, VT or even JMU material - more on par with West Virginia or Radford admissions if that makes sense. One kid does have an IEP. But in this range I have heard very favorable things about it this year.

Bumping this thread up for more discussion on this school and any recent outcomes.

Longwood doesn’t get much discussion here because it’s remote and small and Farmville is not terribly interesting to your average NoVa kid.

One of the smartest, nicest, most on-top-of-things people I ever met was a grad student who did undergrad at Longwood. I wasn’t familiar with it before meeting her and was very surprised after knowing her that Longwood is often looked down on in this area.
