In the high school where I work, MAP is being used as an all-tasks grade. So opting out may hurt your child’s grade in the class.

And most HS students know this, don’t care, and click thru as quick as possible to get done.

Yup! This is what my kid did.

Why would you want your high schooler to skip MAP? It’s a helpful diagnostic tool and your child stills needs to take Algebra, Bio-misa, government and English high school assessments too.

Yes you don’t take the test and instead work on actual projects that are due.

There’s an easy form to fill out to opt out of map. Ask the school for it. There’s no need for high school map testing.

You know you're going to get an incredibly obnoxious and entitled justification of how MAP is a waste of her precious child's time and how it's unfair for it to be mandatory and how her special snowflake deserves to have the choice of not taking MAP exams.

Would like to hear from anyone with a HS kid that opted out of MAP. How did you go about - email the principal? and How was the response? Thank you!
