Pediatrician here! I would give it 3-4 weeks which is how long the range of "normal" for separation anxiety to last when transitioning to a new school or environment.
Short, swift goodbyes are helpful (1 hug or a high five)
Bringing a stuffy
Reading books about school (Llama Llama misses his mama)
Hang in there!

I’d look into a nanny. I know of an excellent nanny if interested

bring a favorite toy or blankie, that can reduce anxiety.

OP here - unfortunately we moved and her original daycare is no longer a possibility for us.

Stay in a family daycare. Empathy is more important than academics. And many daycares learns abc's, 123's, with crafts, storyline, exploration and in small groups. I think young kids shouldn't be in big classes. It's not kindergarten yet for that

She is too young and not ready for this op. Come on! She is 3 years old. There is no reason to continue this now.

Will the home daycare take her back? I see no reason for a 3 yr old to be miserable everyday. She's not ready for the preschool setting. Try again next year, perhaps after easing her in gradually like one or two half days a week to start.

Preschool isn't a requirement. My kids stayed in a daycare they loved until kindergarten started. No preschool or academic setting for them at all until they were 5.5 years old. We left them in daycare because they were happy and, honestly, it worked better for our family logistically. It didn't harm them at all; One kid is now is successfully employed in the corporate world and the other is an engineering student at a college DCUM deems acceptable.

I've decided that two weeks in is too soon for dramatic change. You know your kid - mine at least isn't great with change, and this is a big one. So, I'm giving it a bit more time.

My daughter just turned 3 and was recently attending an in home daycare for the past 2 years. We loved the daycare and they treated my daughter as their own. We are now in the second week of preschool and it’s been disasterous. My daughter won’t stop crying from drop off to pick up( it turns into a whine cry apparently). She hates it, refuses to eat the food or use the bathroom. Will it get better? The preschool was highly regarded but don’t know if I should try to find another place? Any tips or advice would be appreciated. TY!
