Hey OP...I'm a teacher too, only I'm about 75 pounds overweight and it is HARD. I've been working to lose weight for years now.

I think Noom is great with their lessons, but when it comes down to it it is calorie counting. It's just not realistic for ME...again, for ME. It is too cumbersome. I also think Noom is very gimmicky with their initial catch: you can be 155 by Jan 17! Ok, sure.

I started the Beachbody program after watching Katie Moore Wellness on Instagram. YES, it is an MLM...but the tracker and the general idea is SO easy: water first, veggies most, dinner and done. No counting, no weighing.

I also started at Burn Boot Camp and although my weight won't budge, people keep commenting on how I've lost weight. It transforms your body pretty quickly!

Hope that helps.

PP here who lost 35 pounds with Noom. I only calorie counted the first 15 pounds and stopped. Noom taught me how to measure my calories by feel and a lot about portion control. So it worked really well for me but may not for others and I get that, but I don't want anyone reading this thread to think they can't do it when you can!

I tried WW. I found that logging was very difficult. Lots of items just weren’t in the database, so that was a pain. Maybe it’s better now.

NP. I liked WW way better than My Fitness Pal or anything else that focuses on strict calorie counting. I do think WW does a good job of encouraging overall healthy eating (although I disagree with them on certain things, like full fat vs nonfat dairy).

I don't know when you did WW, but I could find pretty much anything processed in there, and lots of chain restaurant items as well. The label scanning is really easy. I just don't eat that much processed food. That can make logging really annoying in some environments, but not that bad in WW, where you only have to log foods with points.

That said, I didn't like WW well enough to pay for it, and just used it for the 3 months I got it free through work.

Op here. I do a lot of shopping at Trader Joe’s and Costco. It seemed like a lot of those items weren’t in the database. Scanning was nice, but it didn’t save foods that were scanned into my database so it would have to scan each time instead of selecting from a list of my previously entered foods. Maybe I was doing something wrong.

There are some good groups on Reddit if you need motivation or assistance.

Wow, that is impressive! Glad to hear a success story!

NP, I have used WW on and off for approximately forever, and I've found the database to be MUCH better in the last year or so than it ever was previously.

I liked Noom at first but quickly got tired of it.
I have looked at MyFitnessPal, Noom, WW and PLT. For all of them, you have to consistently track food. That’s the only way and that’s where I suck. I just hate the constant thinking about food, tracking it, etc.

I tried Noom and it worked initially, but I found it to be inconsistent. For example, they had all breakfast cereals listed as “red” foods, but then a random one would show up as green. The group was unhelpful to me, it’s just not my thing. The one on one was a joke:I’d pour my heart out in a paragraph in answer to one of the coach’s questions and get a general sentence or two in response.

I actually thought the “course” part was educational and very helpful.

But mainly it didn’t work for me because it took all of the fun out of everything involving food, which is totally on me not them. I definitely lean on food for emotional/entertainment purposes more than I should.
For reference, I was 145 trying to get to 130 and seriously stalled out at 138 so I got very discouraged.

Op here. I have kinda wondered about that. I haven’t tried Happy Scale or Carb Manager. What about My Fitness Pal?

I really like the idea of Noom. I signed up a few months ago and was not successful. Not because of the program, but because I did not stick to it. At all. I am ready to get serious now. Looking at my weight graph, I could reach my ultimate goal of 155 pounds by Jan. 17. That would be a 47 pound loss. I know that’s a pretty lofty goal for 6 months, but I would be ELATED to get within 15 pounds of that. It occurred to me how amazing it would be if I could really commit, at least get close to that goal weight, then focus on exercise and maintenance for the next few months and then have an amazing summer, feeling great! I am finally at a point where slow and steady is appealing. I don’t have any major events coming up that I want to slim down for. I’m a teacher, so I live for summer! Lol. So making it my goal to be in great shape by next summer is motivating to me.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has tried Noom and what made them successful. I am in a fb group, and they say the key is to weigh absolutely all of your food. I’m just not sure that’s realistic, but I will give it a try if I need to. Please share any and all advice! What are your favorite green and yellow food? What kind if exercise helps you? Do you weigh your food?

TIA!
