I was raised as a Katherine but in college changed my name legally to Catharine. I saw that spelling, fell in love with it, and for 20+ years I have been Catharine.

I spelled it with a K for my DD. I don’t care for the nn Cathy and thought the K spelling worked better for the nn Kate.

I prefer Catherine to Katherine but there is no universe where Katherine is tacky light.
