I just want to note that as a Swiftie, I don't get the people saying that her statement about not being involved with the movie other than licensing a song means she was saying "Blake lied." As someone who pays a weird amount of attention to stuff Taylor says, I don't get this. Blake did interviews where she said stuff like "Taylor was with me through the whole thing, for better or worse." I think she obviously meant emotionally, as a friend. She wasn't saying Taylor made the movie with her, obviously. Taylor was doing Eras and starting a new serious relationship with someone who, like her, travels constantly and has a demanding job. The idea that Taylor was just quietly trying to take over this movie in between all that is silly and I don't think Blake ever implied that. She was just saying that making the movie was hard and Taylor, as her friend, supported her through it. Which I am sure was true. So when Taylor made the comment about how she just contributed the song (which was not written for the movie), didn't score the movie, didn't participate in production, and didn't see the movie until weeks after it opened, I don't think it was some repudiation of Blake. She supported Blake in making the movie, was "with her" in the way friends are always with each other while they do hard things. It doesn't strike me as contrary to what Blake had said previously. That said, it does seem like there are issues between them and if Blake asked her to delete messages or was leaning on Taylor to support her publicly, I could see Taylor distancing herself. But they've been friends a long time. I also don't think Taylor cares AT ALL about Justin Baldoni and has zero interest in helping him with his case or siding with him against Blake. Just my two cents.
A whole lot of unnecessary rationalization here. If one of my friends was in the midst of a very public sexual harassment lawsuit that was bringing her a ton of negative publicity and I had Taylor’s platform, I sure wouldn’t be running away from her if I believed her claims to be true. Nor would I stay silent if there were reports of someone from the my team leaking negative info about her to the other side that weren’t true.
Not rationalizing -- I do think something is broken between them and I'm not even saying I believe Lively's allegations or that Taylor does. Just noting that as someone who follows T closely, her statement didn't seem like she was trying to say Blake lied. It sounded like she was criticizing Baldoni and distancing herself from the movie and leaving the subject of Blake or their friendship out of it because she doesn't think that's anyone's business but theirs.
She didn’t really criticize Baldoni. The entire statement was mostly a pot shot at her former BFF.
How? Be specific. She was clearly criticizing the subpoena and the motivations behind it (clickbait, using Taylor's fame for attention). What about her comment is a "pot shot" at Blake? Blake never claimed Taylor saw the movie early on, or scored the film, or participated in production. She told Isabella that Taylor helped cast her, but the story that gets told is that Baldoni found Isabella and sent it to Blake, and that Taylor saw it and said "yes, her." This is the story Baldoni himself told. So nothing Taylor says contradicts said challenges that. That's not "casting." That's giving a best friend's seal of approval that the actress cast as the younger version of Blake does indeed show a strong likeness to Blake.
