Just last week the Tuoyh’s said they will voluntarily end the conservatorship so apparently it didn’t end when he was 25.
Why wouldn't it have automatically ended or be invalid after 25?
The Tuohy's and Oher originally signed a conservatorship agreement that would make the conservatorship end automatically at age 25. However, the judge - who has final say over the matter - instead granted the conservatorship into perpetuity (until either party petitioned for it to end). This discrepancy has never been explained.
So maybe neither party was aware of that and the Tuohys assumed this was all done and dusted years ago.
Then when Michael asked about it they would have told him it was an oversight and it should have ended when he was 25 and they will file the petition to end it asap; instead they refuse to give him any information.
What happened in Feb 2023 where he discovered all this? Why are you imagining this conversation happened?
Sean Tuoyh said he has family group chat from 2020 where Micheal asked about the conservatorship.
If true (big if), this will be just one of many timeline issues, and since Michael acknowledges the conservatorship (albeit describing it as exactly like adoption) in his book, it is going to be very hard for him to prove that he “knew but didn’t REALLY know.” I think everyone involved is going to come out of this the worse for it.
I don’t really see the inconsistency. He knew about the conservatorship they told him is was the same as adoption; adoption is the term if you are under 18 and it’s conservatorship if 18 and over.
