DOJ/FBI didn’t want to do this. But there hands we tied by Trump and his co-conspirators refusal to follow the law in the first instance and comply with a grand jury subpoena. Trump rolled the dice and thought Garland would fold. It’s the Roy Cohn playbook. It’s magical thinking that Garland is boxed in. He understands the stakes better than anyone and proved it again today. [/quote]
