Makes sense. And I agree, that statement was harsh. This is terrible for Blake. Either she is proven a liar once again, or she did in fact use Taylor to pressure people. Either way, she looks bad. Blake should just settle this mess.
There’s also a new daily mail article clarifying that Taylor does in fact blame Blake for dragging her into this and not Justin.
Yes, I saw that, not a good look, and it might explain why the pro Blake lively poster(s) on here (who sometimes claim they’re not pro BL) are off trying to get this thread shut down again. Check out website feedback. They are relentless in reporting posts and fabricating reasons to Jeff that this thread should be shut down, and Jeff obviously doesn’t have time to sort through it all. Just a word to the wise. I’m not sure how to handle other than trying to defend what this thread is about. Of course it veers off to chatter and gossip occasionally- this is a celebrity thread after all- but there is nothing wrong with that, and it’s not like all the other threads on Celebrity don’t also include normal gossipy chatter.
The problem with accusing some of the posts as being gossipy is that this is not just a case that has legal implications, it has major public relations implications as well. At the end of the day, I have no doubt that both teams will be able to pay the lawyers no matter what happens and will go on about their lives. No one is going to jail. But it is interesting to see career implications and how the public reacts. Public relations is not frivolous. Go to the politics discussion and you’ll see the same the thing. How the public responds makes or breaks careers, brands, decisions etc. When we get public statements from Taylor’s team, that is also not gossip. Yes that has to do with the legal case, but it also has to do with Blake‘s image since her friendship is obviously a very important part of public image. Further, even though the New York Times is unlikely to face legal ramifications from this, if Meghan Twohey does not put out stories for a year because of this, if people don’t go to the times to share their SH related stories anymore, and if times subscriptions continue to plunge because people are fed up with the biased reporting, that actually is important and worth discussing. And it is absolutely fascinating to look at how this case is being shaped in the public in 2025 with social media influencers and podcasters versus 10 years ago, which was a totally different landscape and controlled by legacy media. All these things are worthy of discussion. I’m sorry if it makes Blake‘s team uncomfortable, but that’s not our problem.
