I like that Travis finds her command of the English language “hot.” Hopefully young girls who see this will realize that being well read and well spoken is indeed attractive. What does it say about her though that she had to settle for a simpleton like him and couldn’t keep any of her smarter boyfriends around?
He's not a simpleton, his mind works differently. He's an athlete, but he plays very smart. It's a skill to read people, situations and adapt. There are many ways to be intelligent without being a literary genius. Book smart is not the only smart.
+1 There are so many different types of intelligence. I'm dyslexic, and I'm sure I often come across as unintelligent and not well spoken or quick witted because of my processing delays. However, I'm a math wiz and have close to a photographic memory. My husband is also dyslexic, but is an extremely successful engineer. He's never read a book for pleasure in his life, but is so smart in other ways. Also, maybe for once, she wants someone who is supportive, fun, and mentally healthy to be around. Joe and Matty both had mental health issues. I'd take someone who was positive and supportive over someone who is depressed and anxious any day regardless of how book smart or well read they are.
