We’re opening up y’all. Stay home if you want to.
Opening up is fine, but these losers who are packing into bars and having big parties and refusing to wear masks indoors are going to end up ruining it for everyone. No sense of moderation or self-control. It's like they think it's cool to be an inconsiderate jackass.
How so? Elderly and sickly aren't supposed to be taking in visitors, especially healthy visitors who are back in society. If YOU are at risk, then get a doctors note and stay at home indefinitely if you want. Maybe there will be a vaccine or treatment some day, maybe not.
40% of Americans are obese, 10% have diabetes (and another 33% have prediabetes), almost 50% of adults have high blood pressure, 10% have chronic lung disease, 5-10% have a clotting disorder - that's a lot of people who have to "stay at home" while you selfish douchebags prance around unmasked, crowding each other like a bunch of animals in heat. Instead, how about trying to behave like mature adults, follow the rules, try to avoid getting or giving an infection. It's not a perfect system, but it's better than not even trying.
Can you please explain what system you personally want? Do you want everyone to stay home and only "essential work" get done or can you explain something else? From the above it sounds like you think there are "douchebags" everywhere - at the grocery store, on your street, at the CVS - and they are rude to the elderly and comorbid. (And let's leave the comorbidities to the ones that have bad death rates or accelerate once infected). And you want them to wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from the elderly and sickly, correct? Meanwhile, what would you like the elderly and sickly to do? Stay at home and get groceries delivered or do their errands outside? WOuld you like them to frequent the restaurants, bars or beaches? Or should they be forbidden or informed of the risks and decide for themselves? Should there be elderly hour for things, what things? Should there be healthy people hours for things, what things? Should bars after 7pm require masks, 6' tables and only healthy people? Should elderly and sickly people be living with healthy people who go out and socialize? Do americans want rules on this or information/decide for themselves? SHould the rules only be for essential things (food, health visits).
