It's entirely possible that the SS administration did a better job of negotiating than the "other charter schools". Imagine that. Also, remember that in DC as in other cities, it comes down to relationships. Half of the SSMA board are Howard alumni. As a new parent I find it fascinating that people who have such little respect for the administration and no longer have children at SS are so interested in the particulars of the lease and the school's reputation and development.
