It definitely seems like the hatred for him has picked up. Carson did not used to be so blatantly mean to his face and he seemed generally more accepted by some of the others. Now it seems like he is a total pariah in a way that it didn't before.[/quote]

I was under the impression that Carson was very dismissive to Thomas because Thomas asked if he could interview for other jobs.  I know Carson is deeply loyal to Downton, but surely if he knows staff are to be laid off, he would support them looking for new positions?

As for the others, I didn't notice anyone treating him worse than before.  Except maybe the a-hole he had to interview with.  He was horrible.[/quote]
