Class of 2015 Graduates have been accepted to the following outstanding high schools: Academy of the Holy Cross Bullis Connelly School of the Holy Child Georgetown Preparatory School Georgetown Visitation Gonzaga College high School The Heights Holton Arms Our Lady of Good Counsel St. John's College High school Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart and Kingswood Oxford, Northwest Catholic, The Ethel Walker School, and Westminster School, Connecticut Not bad for a very small schools...
That's only cause these high schools have a quota to fill with all the parochial schools including OLOM. My public school son is outperforming your OLOM alumnus in one of these high schools. tells me OLOM has a long way to go. And yes, the cliques are just sickening.
What quota? what high school are you talking about?
If you have spent any time reading about Catholic HS admissions, the high schools tend to admit a certain number from each parish school. Just to throw out some random numbers, Gonzaga may admit up to 2 from Mercy, GP up to 3, Visitation up to 3, etc. So it is inevitable that Mercy 8th graders will be admitted to these schools regardless of their test scores, grades, etc.
You may have read that but it doesn't make it true. In our parish school the numbers vary widely every year. Sometimes it's because the gender numbers in the class make it so there are more or fewer applicants. I don't think the high schools would ever shut out a qualified applicant simply because his classmates were equally qualified. But naturally some elementary schools are stronger than others and earn more acceptances simply because of their student body. But it's probably safe to assume that the top students from all of the parish elementary schools would be accepted but high schools certainly dig deeper than just those first few when it's warranted. They do not cap.
