In my family we just don't question others about gifts.

Step back and look at yourself. This is YOUR SONS WIFE not you not your MIL. You gave a rude gift and it seems you were testing DILto see if she would take it  Then she told HER HUSBAND (get it) HUSBAND who promptly ran to mom and shared   Not a good way to start z relationship[/quote]
