From the Washington Post comments... My spouse has taught at Bailey's under Lemmon. Here is some additional information the Post should follow up on: -- This is the third time Lemmon has been sued. -- The 88% appproval rating was a farce. Lemmon summoned the faculty in advance of the survey and advised teachers that they would all be in trouble if there was a low leadership rating. -- In my 50+ years in Fairfax County, as a student, parent, and spouse of a teacher, Lemmon is one of the top 5 most reviled school employees I've heard tell of. No one other than a few cronies at Bailey's and her previous elementary school has anything good to say about her. Now that this story is out, the Post should do a follow-up story on the issues above, and interview current and former employees who previously would have been afraid to speak but now have some ability to do so. This principal is a toxic, self-promoting totalitarian who needs to be relieved of command.
You do realize that your anonymous comments here, and the constant recycling of cross-posted comments, display elements of both cowardice and bullying, right? Even if your spouse suffered under Lemmon, you are both setting a terrible example and deserve no respect, whether in or out of a classroom.
Not the PP. Do you realize that you sound like the bully with your name calling? By accusing the pp of cowardice and bullying, it sounds like you are trying to silence the pp and stop pp from expressing her opinion be trying to shame her. The completely takes away from any point you were trying to make with your post.
The potential reputational and emotional injury that one anonymous poster may suffer at the hands of another anonymous poster on an internet forum is easily distinguishable from the character assassination of school personnel, identified by name, that takes place regularly on DCUM. From what I've gathered, Jeff allows such criticisms of school principals, but not individual teachers. I'm not sure I see a major difference, and I have little doubt that PP would be greatly offended if a parent or student decided to wage a public campaign against his or her spouse (a teacher) on DCUM. None of them are elected officials or public figures who have sought the limelight.
I don't know what Jeff allows, but this discussion is in the context of a lawsuit where apparently the allegations are available publicly. That's different than a thread about someone with no lawsuit.
That cuts both ways. The lawsuit is a matter of public record, but the notion that the filing of a complaint constitutes a general license to slander or defame someone you have chosen to sue is ludicrous on its face. And, of course, there is also a risk that discussions on social media of the issues involved in the lawsuit or the merits (or lack thereof) of the complaint would themselves become subject to pre-trial discovery.
