Life isn't a rom-com.

Some women are foolish in their choice of mates, either they choose a schlub they're not fully attracted to because he'd be a good husband (and then get bored), or they cycle through a string of cute/artistic/whatever jerks.

Then again, men keep going after Manic Pixie Dream Girls, Silicone Girls, etc.

Modern marriage also seems to be more encompassing than marriage back in the day -- back then it was fine for women to have their girl stuff and for guys to have their guy stuff (e.g. the clubs in Upstairs Downstairs, the Moose/Elks/Lions/Masons, etc.) [/quote]
