I agree. There's a lot of resentment toward progressives in California. Even San Francisco recalled their DA. If Democrats choose a rude, abrasive, and unlikeable candidate, they will be vulnerable as long as Republicans choose someone sane. People can mock Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he would win in a heartbeat over Katie Porter today.  [/quote]

There is no question in my mind that an Arnold Schwarzenegger would win over Porter.

What a lot of DCUM posters do not get because they aren’t here in CA is that for much of the state, from the very wealthiest to the very poorest, the quality of life in the state has degraded under Newsom and particularly the progressives. I don’t think I know a single person who thinks their quality of life in California has gotten better since Newsom was elected. Almost everyone hates ICE, even conservatives and Republicans, so that creates a serious opening, but a reasonable-sounding Republican who asks the question “Are you better off?” could do very well. The anger at what the progressives have done to this state runs very deep. [/quote]
