Economically national socialism is more left wing than free market capitalism, same for fascism. Both communism and fascism in theory direct industry for the public good, though you can argue if that's what happened.

The difference being in communism the state owns and directs industry while in fascism the state directs industry but it is mostly privately owned and there can be competition between companies.

I'd argue that companies can compete is better than the alternative, also that living standards did seem to improve in fascist countries more so than communist, though OPs question remains as to why it's more vilified given that both systems were authoritarian with mass killings.[/quote]
