You have to go into the “big hole” to truly experience Grand Canyon.  Camping or staying at Phantom Ranch is a phenomenal experience.  Also, North Rim is a much better than South Rim.  Sadly, North Rim will be closed for awhile.[/quote]

I'm the 'religious experience' poster and I was on the north rim when I went. Calling the grand canyon a big hole is like calling the pacific a big ocean or a redwood a big tree. Anything can be reduced with words, but the seeing of it is something else. [/quote]

Grand Canyon is a religious experience for me too.  I’ve been there multiple times and am moved every time I see it.  I have been to both runs, and much prefer the North.  South has more views, but also has more people.  Quiet and tranquility of North Rim is my happy place.[/quote]
