But you also could have said, "Hey mom, I know you're in a financial crisis now because of the divorce. I bet paying for that loan is really hard for you. Would you like to split it with me going forward?" Each of you could have done better, but here we are. Hers is a reasonable ask, considering her financial situation.[/quote]
