Most vaccines go through placebo testing already. Usually happens in Phase III for new vax. Something already cleared say chicken pox, new versions do not need to go through a placebo testing phase because they use the data from the first trial. Just more expense nothing new here.[/quote]

Vaccine expert Paul Offit from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has a great post on placebo testing. Worth noting that RFK twists his meaning of placebo when he states existing vaccines have not been tested against placebo.

The fact that Paul Offit is routinely held out as a neutral expert on pediatric vaccines is perhaps one of the greatest acts of journalistic malpractice I am aware of.  He helped develop I believe the rotovirus vaccine. While I assume at this point he doesn't have an ongoing, direct financial stake in the vaccine's continued availability, I would think, just as an obvious matter of human psychology, that, if there were a serious safety issue, he'd have every reason in the world to doubt it and hope it's wrong.

lol solid shot trying to make this sound stupid,  but yeah, I think that if you have a reputational and perhaps financial stake in a proposition being wrong, you're not the ideal neutral arbiter of whether it's right [/quote]
