It’s not IQ, it’s the conspiracy mindset.  Starting in the 1960’s there has been a constant drumbeat that you can’t trust authority, and what “they” say must be a lie. But people believe all of that junk because they have very low IQ.  Go lookup IQ rankings by country. America is low. It's also why hardcore bible thumpers still exist in the US and there are large swaths of the country where they pump religion everywhere every day.  Very low IQ people.

DP. Out of curiosity I did look up mean IQ by country. At 99.7, average US IQ is equivalent to that of Great Britain (99.7) and nearly equivalent to Scandinavia (99.6). From available data, it appears that average IQ in the US is not low, and belief in antivaxx and conspiracy theories does not appear to be caused by, or to be correlated with, IQ differences.

Which is like. US ranking below Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, and even countries like Mongolia and Belarus. And we are FAR behind intelligence of countries like China, Japan, and South Korea.
