And the time has come for everyone to have a form of unified, national ID. I don't even think we should let military ID serve for this. EVERYONE should have a national id (passport) that shows US citizenship + the right to vote (if over age 18). It should include place of birth, date of birth, and your parents' names and THEIR places of birth and dates of birth.

And everyone's names on these documents should be their full name as listed on their birth certificate.

One thing this national id does NOT need to have, though, is your gender, race, or even eye and hair color.  I think that's ridiculous. We treat male and female citizens the same according to the law.  We have no different rules for different races. People change their hair and eye color all the time. These are not needed for identification purposes.

I'm not saying add a third marker for Gender X.  Just eliminate all reference to gender. There's no need for it for identification. The photo is your identification. [/quote]
